Department of Commerce

  • Our team developed an application to produce near real-time data for the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) to meet its operational forecasting capability and transitioned the application from development (research grade) code into National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) operations. JGMS supported development and scientific validation of algorithms to produce forecast products; we also prepared documentation and transition-to-operations plans, and provided operations and maintenance support for operational instances.

  • JGMS provides Enterprise Architecture and Systems Engineering project oversight to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS). JGMS personnel implement and extend configuration files for the NWS Advanced Weather Interactive Processing Systems II (AWIPS II). These files control how certain datasets/products are both ingested and displayed in AWIPS; including the color tables used to visualize the data and menu entries in AWIPS II. Our Personnel have developed a tool (TOWRpro), that will provide any Weather Forecast Office or National Center (over 150 total offices) with the most up-to-date AWIPS configuration.
